Liz Wuillermin ‘82: Room for My Lens

Liz Wuillermin ’82 brings her decades-long photography career to life in a new solo exhibition at Dock Street Brewery in Fishtown. This collection, titled Room for My Lens, celebrates the intersection of music, memory, and Philadelphia’s cultural history—centered around the 40th anniversary of the iconic 1985 Live Aid concert.

In the lead-up to Live Aid, Wuillermin was on assignment at the Palace Hotel (now The Terrace), where she captured candid, behind-the-scenes moments of world-famous musicians. As a freelance publicity photographer, she was trusted to document these moments with both discretion and artistry—images that now offer a rare, intimate glimpse into a transformative time in global music history.

The exhibition is not only a tribute to Live Aid but a reflection of Wuillermin’s deep ties to Philadelphia, where she launched her photography career in the 1980s. As one of the few women working in corporate photography at the time, she navigated press pools and assignments with resilience and skill, carving space for her lens in a male-dominated field.

Now based in Folsom, NJ, Wuillermin continues to run her portrait studio and create meaningful work rooted in storytelling. Her photographs have appeared in The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Magazine, Martha Stewart Living, and Larry Kane’s Philadelphia, and are part of several permanent public collections across the city.
